Chromic Gut Absorbable Suture, Taper Point, Size 4/0, 27", SH Needle is a sterile, absorbable surgical suture derived from purified collagen tissue, primarily obtained from the serosal layer of bovine intestines. The collagen is treated with chromic salts to delay absorption, extending tensile strength for improved wound support during healing. 

This suture features a taper point SH needle with a 1/2 circle curvature, designed for smooth penetration through delicate soft tissue. The blunt taper design reduces tissue trauma and facilitates easy handling and secure knot tying. The 27-inch strand length and 4/0 suture size make it appropriate for medium to small tissue repairs, particularly in subcutaneous, mucosal, or gynecological applications.

The chromic treatment enhances the resistance to enzymatic digestion, offering extended tensile strength retention for up to 10–14 days. Full absorption typically occurs between 70 and 90 days. This allows adequate wound support in tissues that heal at a moderate rate, minimizing the risk of suture remnants or foreign body reactions post-procedure.
