PERMA-HAND™ Suture, Black, Size 4-0, 30", KS Needle is a nonabsorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of silk, an organic protein filament. It undergoes a refining process to remove natural waxes and gums, enhancing its biocompatibility and reducing the potential for tissue reactivity. This structural refinement contributes to a smoother strand with consistent tensile behavior.

The suture is coated with a proprietary wax mixture designed to optimize handling characteristics and improve knot tie-down. This coating also minimizes fraying and enhances pliability during surgical manipulation. While silk is naturally absorbable over a very extended period, PERMA-HAND™ is classified as nonabsorbable because it retains functional strength for prolonged durations in clinical use.

The KS needle attached to this suture is a conventional cutting needle designed to facilitate easy penetration through tough or keratinized tissues, such as skin. Its triangular cross-section ensures clean incision and reduced tissue drag, making it well suited for external closures requiring cosmetic precision.
